‘Rise and Create’ at PHX Startup Week 2017

PHX Startup Week, hub for new ideas and game changer for local entrepreneurs and businesses is back, and the theme for our third year is “Rise and Create”. Whether you just thought up your big idea or are launching your third successful venture, you should be at PHX Startup Week to share your story with the most innovative minds in Phoenix.

Below, we’re giving you a sneak peek at the topics that will be covered by the Valley’s top entrepreneurs across this five day conference in late February.

Day 1: “What Do You Stand For?”

Learning and communicating your “why” should be your first priority as a business. From this initial mission, you will develop a brand that will set you apart from your competition. In a new market like Phoenix, separating yourself is especially important because everyone is competing for the same customer. Depending on your mission, you may need to play into the leisurely culture that Phoenix seems to engender, or you may look to completely upend that narrative.

Day 2: “Creating the Future”

After you have set your vision, the strategic elements of your plan must be considered. Are you focusing on a particular demographic within Phoenix? Will you target areas such as Desert Hills or Biltmore Heights because of the economy there? You will definitely have moments of doubt and ideas that fail, but you can make these an advantage if you use them as data to improve your product development cycle.

Day 3: “Navigating the Customer Journey”

Phoenix is unique in that your audience is likely quite in tune with social media. The city is plugged in, and whether you are marketing to locals or to tourists, you will find a great deal of success if you communicate well online. You must quickly answer customer queries and respond to negative reviews. This is especially important in Phoenix where Yelp and #yesPHX are the new words of mouth.

Day 4: “Don’t Risk It All”

The in’s and out’s of business law are confusing. Although every entrepreneur takes risks, there is no need to risk everything. Utilize the PHX community. You can find partners here to outsource elements of your business and protect yourself in terms of taxes, intellectual property, and other legal areas. Find specialists to help you with financial modeling and collaborate with you to find profitable solutions. You may even be able to combine efforts in the supply chain to reduce costs and offer crossover products.

Day 5: “Building a Dream Team”

PHX Startup Week is also a great place to find partners. If you need a co-founder, where better to look than to a community of people who understand exactly what being an entrepreneur is? You may even find your entire first workforce at the conference. Bring plenty of business cards and a positive attitude, because a few minutes in a room with the rest of the PHX Startup Week community can truly be a game changer.

We’ll be covering even more topics across the entire startup spectrum on our blog. Sign up for our newsletter to keep up-to-date on the latest industry news and stay in the know about PHX Startup Week announcements.
